Victor Harrell

I was born Victor L. Collins in 1983 to Diane Collins and an unknown father. Due to marriage, in 1986 my records and my name was changed to Victor D. Harrell. I lived with my mother and two brothers, (Delano and Tyrone) and my stepfather, Andre, until 1989. That's when my grandmother gained custody of me and my older brother. At this time, I was in first grade at Courtis Elementary school. In 1995, my life took a change, when I left my home of six years and moved to a new environment.

Once I was settled into this new environment, I picked up new hobbies and activities, such as my participation in the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corp. This activity trained me to become a leader today. This organization also introduced me to a more diverse environment, which allowed me to meet new friends and to have new experiences like piloting a ship. During this time I also joined a new and scary era. The era of high school.

While in high school, I became a member of a number of organizations, the first of which was the REACH program. As a member of REACH, I took advanced math, English, and science. During my first year of high school, I also joined the Academic Games. As an Academic Games player, I was able to go to the Super Tournament three times.

During my Sophomore year in high school, I joined Redford High’s J.R.O.T.C., in which I was the first-year commander and received the award of Superior Junior Cadet. I was also inducted into the National Honor Society. During my current year of high school, I obtained the position of Battalion Commander in J.R.O.T.C. and I have also been given the privilege of being a part of advanced placement English and government.

For the future, I plan on attending the University of Norwich or Michigan State and also starting an Academic Games team at my old Middle school. While at college, I will join R.O.T.C. and study to be a tactical officer in agricultural warfare.
